At Minnesota Pork, we are proud to work on behalf of Minnesota’s over 3,000 family pig farmers. The Minnesota Pork Board is funded through the mandatory Pork Checkoff and delivers value to farmers through research, promotion, and education. The Minnesota Pork Producers Association is voluntarily funded through the Strategic Investment Program and works in the areas of public policy and advocacy on behalf of its members.
Position Overview
The Accounting and Human Resources Manager is responsible for the financial, human resources, and administrative functions of the Minnesota Pork Producers Association and the Minnesota Pork Board. This role requires a strong attention to detail ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial and human resource information. The Manager will provide value to the team and the farmers we serve through transparent and accurate financial management, comprehensive HR strategies, and efficient administrative support. As a member of a dynamic team, the Manager will engage with purpose, integrity, and a commitment to organizational excellence, all while maintaining a high standard of precision and accountability in all aspects of the role.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Assist the CEO in preparing and managing annual budgets ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
- Monitor cash flow, track financial performance, and provide regular reports to the team and the board of directors.
- Track, compile, and submit employment taxes to state and federal agencies.
- Compile and send employee and contractor W2s and 1099s.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, accounting principles, and tax laws.
- Manage audits and work closely with external auditors to ensure timely completion.
- Develop financial policies and procedures that promote transparency, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Manage accounts payable, receivable, and account reconciliation.
Human Resources Management:
- Lead the HR function, including recruitment and onboarding.
- Assist the CEO in performance management and retention strategies.
- Administer employee benefits programs, compensation structures, and payroll processes.
- Stay informed of trends and best practices in HR, ensuring the organization is up-to-date with employment laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Administrative Support:
- Welcome and provide general support to visitors
- Manage office systems, facilities, and other administrative functions, optimizing productivity and service delivery.
- Help foster a collaborative, purpose-driven work environment with a focus on employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Provide administrative support to MN pork team and farmer leaders.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, human resources, business administration, or a related field. Experience working in a nonprofit or agriculture-related industry is highly desirable.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Passionate about serving farmers.
- Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
- Expertise in HR best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in financial software and HR management systems.
- Knowledge of labor laws and compliance requirements.
- Strong ethical standards and integrity in all business practices.
- High level of initiative, problem-solving ability, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
