The 2025 Voice of Pork Scholarship is a Minnesota Pork Board scholarship for students interested in communications, marketing, public relations, or education.
Please see the scholarships homepage for basic information and eligibility criteria.
Application Components:
- Cover Sheet – please include your name, name of scholarship, school, year in school, email address, cell phone number and permanent mailing address.
- Personal Statement (500-750 words) – Tell us about your journey in agriculture. What sparked your interest in communications, marketing, public relations, or education, and how do you see yourself contributing to the pork industry in the future? Be sure to include any relevant experiences such as agricultural coursework, clubs, internships, or study-abroad opportunities.
- Industry Challenge Response: Creative Solutions (Choose One – 300-500 words)
Select one of the following formats to present your response:
-
- Social Media Campaign – Create a series of three sample social media posts (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.), including captions and suggested visuals. Describe your target audience, what you want them to learn or do, and the reasoning behind your approach.
- Ad or Retail Display Concept – Develop a mock-up or concept for an ad or retail display that promotes pork or educates consumers. Explain how it would grab attention, what message it conveys, and why it would be effective.
- Lesson Plan or Community Event – Outline a lesson plan or community event designed to educate the public about the pork industry. Include key learning points, the target audience, and any interactive activities.
Guidance for #3: Focus on a topic in the pork industry (e.g., nutrition, cooking inspiration, sustainability, animal care, modern farming practices). You don’t need to provide finalized designs, just clear concepts and ideas. A few sentences explaining the “why” behind your idea is more important than visual perfection. Creativity matters! We’re looking for innovative and practical ideas that align with the goals of promoting and educating the public about pork.
- Your Impact on the Pork Industry (300 words or less) – The Minnesota Pork Checkoff works to develop and expand the pork industry by promoting, researching, and educating the public about pork. What role do you hope to play in promoting, researching, or educating the public about pork in the future?
- Experience & Involvement
-
- Resume including ag-related experiences, internships, leadership roles, and community involvement.
- Optional: One letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or industry professional.
